Willie Nelson feels that Attorney General Jeff Sessions shouldn’t speak so negatively on marijuana until he tries it. Willie Nelson is well known for his long standing music and advocacy for marijuana.

Rolling Stone interviewed country legend outlaw prior to his 84th birthday to discuss his Willie Nelson & Family tour, as well as the current state of marijuana politics.

When Nelson was asked about Jeff Sessions’ comment that pot is “slightly less awful” than heroin, Nelson replied:

“I wonder if he’s tried both of them. I don’t think you can really make a statement like that unless you tried it all. So I’d like to suggest to Jeff to try it and then let me know later if he thinks he’s still telling the truth!”

Nelson also touched on Trump’s presidency, and why he believes the Donald is in over his head:

“I think he’s stepped into a different world. Like he said this morning, “I had no idea this job was going to be this hard.” It’s easy when you can just go bankrupt anytime you want to and say, “I’ll check you later.” But that’s hard to do when you’re president of the United States.”

Towards the end of the interview, Nelson tried to see cannabis from Sessions’ perspective by trying to find any downsides to smoking weed. Nelson went on to say:

“I haven’t run into any yet. I guess if you go somewhere where it’s illegal, that’s a pretty good downside,” said Nelson.
